Sponsor a child...

and change a life

In 2021, we launched the "Sponsor-A-Child" program to make a lasting impact on the lives of underprivileged children. In a non-traditional set-up, we coach kids who either never had gone to a traditional school or dropped out due to poverty or social norms (true for young girls who may get married off at a young age). Our goal is to support their education through the school years, flourish their hidden talents and enable them become well-rounded adults. If you commit to our  "Sponsor a Child" program and donate every month, it will help us plan our work at the grassroots level more efficiently. It costs only 300 rupees to cover a child's education and food (during study hours) for the whole month, but it makes a huge difference in their lives.

We started our journey with a non-traditional school Robi-Chhaya (রবি-ছায়া, Bengali meaning "under the shadow of Robi the sun) in the outskirts of Bolpur, Birbhum. Our first school was named after the great Bengali poet and Nobel laureate, Rabindranath Tagore, fondly known as "Robi" Thakur.  Since then, we have started two more schools - in Keuti (called Amitangan (আমিতাঙ্গন) and in Mathsheali, based on our Robi-Chhaya model. Between all these locations, at present, we have around 300 children under our wings. We strive to provide a "normal" upbringing to these kids born in extreme poverty. Apart from academics, we teach music, dance, art and sports to the kids.

We have employed local educated youth to serve as teachers and care-takers in our non-traditional school set-up. We provide wholesome snacks to the children during class hours, because learning doesn't happen with a hungry tummy! Salaries, utilities, educational supplies and food costs add up to a hefty amount every month. As much as we would like to provide better facilities (sports gear, library and computers) and full meals, the need is huge! Your donation will sustain the operation of these schools and help us reach more children.
